So the first ever SIFA indoor championship is done and dusted. Marble archers, as expected, ran a very smooth operation. From the pre-registration, to the welcoming sight and smell of warm sausages after sign in, to the bow check, right through to the prize giving every detail was spot on. Bow check and shoot information was co-ordinated by the SIFA Tournaments team of Neil Keeble and Owen Reynolds
5 different Associations were represented in the 36 archers that took to the shooting line around 10.30am on a cool Sunday morning in the sports hall at Gortatole. 10 targets, 18 metres down the hall faced them for a total of 24 rounds of 5 arrows. Sure what else would you be doing on a cool showery Sunday?
After 2 warm up rounds the real business got going and the countdown clock took over and didn’t let up except for a short break at lunchtime.
Everyone was in good spirits and the time passed quickly
All the shooting was done and dusted by 3pm.
After quick cup of tea/coffee and a bit of tidying up, all the numbers were totted up and results were ready and the prizes, including hand engraved glass tankards for SIFA Champions were presented. Everyone was back on the road before 4pm
All agreed that the event was very enjoyable, well run and a great success.
Special thanks to Gabi Goretza for engraving the trophy tankards and to Peter, Halina, Sean, Declan and the rest of the Marble archers team that put in a huge amount of preparation before and on the day.
If we ask them nicely they might do it again sometime……………….?
